Would like other opinions.

I have been researching quite a bit the last few months and narrowed down my choices to two guns. I like the 9x19 caliber mainly just because of lower prices of ammo for practicing. My two choices of pistols are the sig 239 and the hk uspc.

I am used to a SAO gun because I have shot extensively with my 1911. I have shot the sig many times at our local range and love the single action pull. Unfortunately they do not have the hk. The only thing that I have any little gripe over is the inability to carry the sig cocked and locked. I am just wanting any opinions on which gun I should get.

I will carry OWB so concealment is not an issue with me. Thanks to any and everyone that chimes in to help me make this decision.

Tuff one, what's the price difference? If not much then if you want something A.S.A.P. then I'd go for the Sig (since you love the way it shoots). But I know they are expensive. Any other ranges around that might have the HK? All guns have there querks.

Unfortunately its the only range that I know of within 50 miles that has guns you can rent. I would like to have one asap but its not just dyer. I have a glock that I trust, and shoot well, but I just like the feel of both these guns a lot better. I believe the trigger pulls on the sig are 10 and 4.4 for DA/SA. I really don't know what variants of the hk are available in TN. Memphis is the closest place to find new a one from where I live. Price difference isn't really much different. They are both around 700 bucks anywhere I have looked.

Well if your a single action fan then the HK will offer you cocked and locked options and DA/SA all in one depending on the variant you choose of course. Double stack mag polymer versus a single stack steel and aluminum. Quality of both is excellent. Weight might be a slight edge to the USPc even with larger capacity and size but not by much. Sounds like the HK meets all your needs except it might take a little effort to track one down. Could always buy on line and have it sent to your local dealer or have them just factory order you one.

I own both Sig and H&K products, and while I love both of them to death, I personally believe H&K delivers a hair more than Sig.

Considering your desire to carry cocked-and-locked, H&K is the only logical choice, given the two options. The problem now is finding an H&K 9mm USPc, let alone one with a thumb safety. Good luck with that. :smt022

Allow me to humbly suggest a handgun from the CZ-75 B line, perhaps this one:

This mimmicks 1911 functionality more than either the P239 or the USPc (no decocker on either the CZ 75 or your standard 1911, hammer must be lowered VERY CAREFULLY while trigger is depressed), and can be had for $100-$200 less than either the Sig or the H&K.

I also own CZ, and I would put it up against my H&K or Sig any day of the week, just not in terms of looks since the CZ is my EDC and has sufficient wear on the finish. :(

The CZs look sharp and I have read really good things about them. However I cant say as that I have ever seen one in any of the local shops. The gun store that carries the HKs also carry the sig line up. I know they have the hkc in 9mm at the store but I am not sure of the variant. I know its not the LEM. The sig has been harder to locate than I figured it would be because I am picky and want the two tone. I liked the looks of the SAS model in Gen 1 I believe, but I shot a P229 elite with DAK and really disliked the trigger. So I am OK with the DA/SA. Practice will make me better I know. The CZ 75B is sharp, I held one at the same shop where I picked up my Sig. The Sig just felt better in my hands, the CZ was a little smaller. But if the Sig was not available then I'd was seriously considering the CZ.

I would go with the H&K.

I love my P239 9mm. Sweet shooter as well.

Well, I'm a new gun owner, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. I just went through this exact debate myself. I had it narrowed down to the same guns as you. I spent about 20 minutes at Bud's picking one up, setting it down, picking the other up, etc. I finally chose the HK over the Sig. It just felt better in my hands. The Sig just seemed a little top-heavy to me. I know with a loaded magazine it would even out, but I figured as the magazine emptied it would change the balance point. The HK just felt perfect to me. I've only shot 150 rounds so far, so I'm just getting used to it. The double-action pull is a PITA to me, but I've read it loosens up with shooting. The single-action is nice. In case you haven't read or heard, the HK's usually shoot low until you figure out the sights. HTH

Might I ask which variant of the hk you purchased? And whats the trigger pull like compared to the sig? If you had the chance to shoot both of them that is.

I bought Variant 1 with the safety/decocker. I didn't actually shoot or dryfire the Sig, so I really can't compare the two. I've been dryfiring the HK every night so far, and while I'm getting use to it, it's still a pretty long, hard pull. To me anyways it is.

Yep the DA pull on the USP's are something special in grittyness and pounds. But single action is nice and they do break in over time to be more tolerable. I have found it can also vary from gun to gun to. On Beretta, Sig and HK samples I have handled and with permission dry fired expecting that heavy DA pull and found instead a nice smooth some what lighter pull. Happened a few weeks ago at a gun show. Two identical brand new 92FS and one had a noticably lighter and smoother pull than the other. Can't explain why but it happens for what it's worth.

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone that gave their opinions on my 2 choices. I made my decision kinda on a whim today. I ended up going with the hk. Wasn't the 9mm that I was gonna get but it was the stainless version in 40s&w and just couldn't say no. Knoxrocks, another member on this forum, helped put the pressure on me. LOL. As if I needed anymore help. Again thanks for everyone's advice.
