Will I need anything else for cleaning/lubing?

I just got my order shipped from MidwayUSA.com. What I ordered was the MidwayUSA Competition range bag which is really huge, but very nice! 1 Pint of Break-Free CLP Spray, GunSlick cleaning kit, 500 Tipton cleaning patches, MidwayUSA earmuffs.

You guys recommend me getting any other kind of lubricating and cleaning products? Like Hoppes #9 or Militec-1 for lubing? I thought about getting the boresnake as well. Should I get the boresnake to clean the barrel? Any other suggestions on what to get? Like cleaning mats and towel?

Without knowing what the Gunslick kit has it is difficult to be specific. I would want a caliber specific bore brush an old toothbrush or similar plus some Hoppes #9. I have never used a bore snake so can't say much there. I would also get some spray solvent. It's quick and effective.

I use Break Free for cleaning and Hoppes oil for lubricating.

The kit is made for a .45 caliber. Has gun oil and Nitro Solvent, bore brush, and the tool to get the patches through. Will the CLP lubricate as well as Hoppes #9 or Militec-1?

Hoppes #9 is not a lubricant at all, it is a cleaner/solvent (Hoppes also sells gun oil, which is what Unpecador was referring to). Militec is a lubricant, not a cleaner. CLP is sort of in the middle. It cleans and lubes. I would say Break-Free CLP definitely lubes better than just a cleaning solvent like Hoppes #9 (which really does not provide lubrication at all and, as a solvent, actually gets rid of the lube that is on the gun), but it is not as good as a dedicated lubricant like a good gun oil or probably Militec (I do not have personal experience with this product but have heard some good reviews).

I usually clean my guns with CLP and add just a drop or two of gun oil to the slide rails, locking block, hammer and trigger for added lubrication. Don't forget, you are wiping/patching off the CLP when you clean the firearm so a little gun oil at the end is not a bad idea.

You don't need a lot of oil. A little dap will do ya'.
