Advice on next purchace...(narrowed down to 2!)

OK, It's time for a new one.

Currently I have a Walther p22 and it is great fun at the range and the ammo is cheap. but I am looking to buy something bigger for the house.

I have decided on a 9mm. I want it for both HD and for taking to the range.

After much research (including deliberation on my budget, which is about 400 or less), I have narrowed it down to either the Ruger P95 (with stainless slide), or the Taurus P92 (in stainless). I have held them both and they both feel comfortable in my hand, and they have very similar layout.

Ruger - Cheaper, great brand name. Reliability reports are awesome!
Taurus - All metal construction, feels sturdier, much better looking (yes it is a factor for me)

My question to you is...what advice can you give me. I'd like to hear from owners of these guns and similar ones about the pros and cons.

Could you squeeze another $100 out for a Glock? Or go to budsgunshop.com and look at the SIG P-6 used 9's that are going for about $300. I bought one at a gun show a month ago and it is awesome! Isn't shopping for them great fun?

Personally, I've had good experiences with the Ruger P-Series. P95, P97, P90, and P345 all. The KP90DC is my favorite but it is a .45. Some like the looks of Rugers and some don't. Personally I do.

I like the Taurus 92 better. I have owned two through the years and never had a problem with either of them. Also you will have the option to customize it a bit with different grips, if you choose.

ruger p95... it is a battle axe, enjoyable to shoot.

you won't go wrong with either. Having both, I love them both! If, however, CCW is in your future then the p95 is lighter while the taurus is capable of being carried "cocked and locked" (which, lets face it, is just fun to say!)
As to reliability and longevity, both will be great but the edge MUST go to Ruger. They're insane. Plus they don't have that locking block which has given some people many a headache.
As to recoil, don't worry about it...Yes the ruger is lighter weight and can feel like it has more recoil but at the end of the day it is still a 9x19! You'll be fine.
They're both easy to strip and are very user friendly. They're both great values for the money. You can't go wrong with either and (like me) you will probably end up with both in no time!
And then there is the look of them. (nothing to be ashamed of. Hell no other country has held guns at such a historically important pedestal, for you to want them to look good is similar to putting out a clean flag instead of a dirty one!) As to looks the taurus is gorgeous and the poor ruger is like the girl who has a "great personality"! People go on and on about how rugers are "pretty on the inside" but come on! They're Fugly! Not as bad as Glocks (which I carry daily) but they might win and "inner" beauty contest.

All this to say I really like them both. I'm glad I bought them BOTH! I don't believe you can go wrong with either. You should go with the one which strikes your fancy.

As far as pro's and con's: I've never had a single FTF or FTE with either EVER and I've had them both for years!

CDNN is selling the remaining S&W (9mm) supply of 5906 & 6906 pistols for $399.99 NIB w/original plastic box and a lifetime warranty.

If you want a full size 9mm pistol then 5906 is for you... The 6906 is basically a double stack (12+1) 3913 which is generally acknowledged to be one of the best pistols ever produced by S&W..

You can "Google" S&W 5906 or 6906 on any firearms forum and you will find nothing but positive posts. I had a senior Customer Service Rep at S&W tell me that the folks in CS hated it when S&W decided to drop the all steel 5906 or steel/alum.frame 6906 because they seldom had any problems with them..

S&W has an excellent CS/Warranty Repair division, and the warranty would be Lifetime...

I have owned a 3913 for 13 years and it is an excellent pistol, and I just bought a new CDNN 6906 to keep it company.

I recommend a third generation S&W without reservation. My 3913 has been absolutely reliable and very accurate from dayone.

Just another choice.

I went with the Taurus PT92 earlier this year, partly because of its safety being a downward motion ( the Beretta 92 is an upward). Main reason I decided on the PT92 is my wife said it fit well in her hand and as she also fires our handguns it became a real easy choice.
