I want to get a metal 9mm for range and sometimes carry. I like the 92fs and the ruger p89, I would love some input. Guns with plastic are great but just don't feel right to me. Thanks in advance.

P99 A/S is the best gun - but it is polymer...
IN answer to U're request - either a 1911 or a Beretta 92FS!
The all-metal S&W's are highly thought of, and come in many shapes and sizes, both single and double-stack. A 3913 would make an excellent carry weapon.
If you want the most sturdy gun of them all, check out the police turn-in H&K P7 PSP's. Although HK doesn't make new ones any more, you can still buy new P7M8's, but they run over a grand. A used P7 PSP, which is the earlier version of the P7M8, can often be found from five to eight hundred dollars. These are considered by many to be the most reliable auto-loader ever made.
For new pistols -- if you like the 1911 style, look at the Springfield EMP. For a double-action, look at the Sig line. A Sig 239 would make an excellent ccw.
You can find used factory certified Sig 225's, aka the P6, for about $350, and these are very accurate and reliable weapons. For something a bit less ordinary, look at the Walther P1's that used to belong to the Germany military. They can often be found in unused condition for under $300, and they are a very reliable and fun handgun to shoot. However, these last two are bigger than the ones mentioned first, but they are a great buy if they are something you could use.

Take a look at the very excellent CZ75B and the similar guns from CZ. My wife has owned a 75B for about six years now, and it has been an outstanding pistol in every respect - reliable, easy to shoot well, and accurate.
The CZ design offers a very low bore axis compared to most other pistols, which minimizes muzzle flip. The double-action trigger is very smooth, but the gun can also be carried cocked and locked if you prefer. The single action pull is good, though admittedly the reset is long compared to some guns (a flaw common to most DA autos).
The CZ pistols can also usually be found for quite reasonable prices. My own first choice in a metal 9mm would probably be the HK P7 mentioned above, but the CZ would be a close second - and it is about one third the price of a P7M8.
I agree with Mike on the CZ 75B as a fine gun. I hope to get one, one day myself. You see people shooting them around here but you can'r find any for sale. Good luck.
Ditto PhilR..............HK P7m8 (or PSP) hands down best low capacity, steel, 9mm, high quality pistol on the market IMHO. There are some new M8s on the market but they are few and far between and expensive.
Gun is much prettier than the picture shows!

Interesting that you bring up the CZ. My wife has come to regard our CZ85 Combat (for the most part like a 75, but w/adjustable sights) as her favorite range gun. Accurate and reliable once we replaced the stock recoil spring, and fits the hand better than any other handgun I've held so far. Lots of performance for under $500.
For carry however, the standard-sized 75/85 will be a bit big for many, but the compact versions might fit the OP's requirements quite well....

A few more comments, if you will...
The 92fs and P89 you mention are what I refer to as "standard-sized" or "sidearm-sized" handguns. These were not designed with concealed carry (cc) in mind, but instead as duty sidearms for police or military. They make great range or duty handguns, but are not the easiest the conceal. I'm not trying to say you "can't" use them for cc, but there are better choices for this purpose.
You might do better with something in between a small cc and a range gun. A P7, EMP, Sig 239, Glock 26 or 19, S&W 3913 or M&P Compact, Walther P99 Compact, or CZ75 Compact will still be large enough for range duty, but be anywhere between somewhat and much easier to conceal than a 92 or P89.
