Looks like he was suffering from some demodectic mange, proper care and lots of love should correct it nicely.
Demodex has long since cleared up. He was septic when we got him and the vet said he probably wouldn't have made it through the weekend if we hadn't gotten him on antibiotics. Even with medication he took 5 months to get a clean bill of health. 3 months is typically the maximum if the medication is going to work. He's doing great now, though.
