I just bought a house in Forks, Pa. and my wife and I were wondering what the laws are regarding the purchase of firearms. I am originally from New Jersey whose laws are rather strict with permits and all. Any information would be helpful. Thanks!
I'm assuming its Forks PA in Northhampton County since it is closer to NJ than the Forks PA in Columbia County. Either way, I welcome you to FREEDOM. You are now free to hunt with a rifle. You are now free to buy a handgun with only a 20 minute background check. You are now free to handle a handgun at a gun shop without having first obtained a permit to purchase (which only lasts for 30 days from issue). You are now free to obtain a concealed carry permit without having to work in a law enforcement industry, and that permit should take less than a month and less than $100 to obtain. Once you have it, you are free to carry your handgun in your car, loaded. It is truly, night and day. There are a lot of very good shops and a lot of gun shows up in the Allentown area. Read up and handle a lot of guns, then YOU ARE FREE TO GO BUY ONE !!!! JUST LIKE THAT !!!
I moved from NJ to PA 7 years ago.
Thanks guys. It feels like I just broke through the Berlin wall. I really can't believe that it is that easy here. As soon as my paper work transfers over I am going shopping.
I know what you're feeling. I was a long-time resident of MA and once we moved south it was like all the rain stopped and there were no clouds in the sky.
