I just bought a house in Forks, Pa. and my wife and I were wondering what the laws are regarding the purchase of firearms. I am originally from New Jersey whose laws are rather strict with permits and all. Any information would be helpful. Thanks!

I think you're going to be pretty happy.

I'm assuming its Forks PA in Northhampton County since it is closer to NJ than the Forks PA in Columbia County. Either way, I welcome you to FREEDOM. You are now free to hunt with a rifle. You are now free to buy a handgun with only a 20 minute background check. You are now free to handle a handgun at a gun shop without having first obtained a permit to purchase (which only lasts for 30 days from issue). You are now free to obtain a concealed carry permit without having to work in a law enforcement industry, and that permit should take less than a month and less than $100 to obtain. Once you have it, you are free to carry your handgun in your car, loaded. It is truly, night and day. There are a lot of very good shops and a lot of gun shows up in the Allentown area. Read up and handle a lot of guns, then YOU ARE FREE TO GO BUY ONE !!!! JUST LIKE THAT !!!:smt023
I moved from NJ to PA 7 years ago.
Thanks guys. It feels like I just broke through the Berlin wall. I really can't believe that it is that easy here. As soon as my paper work transfers over I am going shopping.
I know what you're feeling. I was a long-time resident of MA and once we moved south it was like all the rain stopped and there were no clouds in the sky.
