Good news for those of us in Ohio.
The castle doctrine bill that was Senate Bill 184 has passed unanamiously, 31-0 (out of 33) in the senate and is on it's way to the house. This bill, when it becomes law, will eliminate the duty to retreat in your home or car. The law also does a job in the civil end of about all ccw shootings, the lawsuit that is filed by the wrongdoer or his/her heirs or estate. This bill when signed into law will prohibit the civil suit of a legal shooting in self defense or the defense of others when the prosecutor or grand jury declines or fails to indict the shooter. The governor has express his intention to signing this bill to make it law when/if it gets to his desk.
Let's keep up the letters/phone calls and attendance at hearings in Columbus to make sure this important bill comes to be law.
Good news for those of us in Ohio.
Glad to hear they finally got their heads cleared out. That will be one for the good people of Ohio.![]()

Just to update. SB 184 passed the House with flying colors and will be signed by Gov Strickland today at 01:00 pm (6/10/08) it then takes 90 days to go into effect. Gov. Strickland has already stated he will sign the bill as soon as it reaches his desk. Great news for our state

Cool.
Sure takes a load off huh?
Does anyone have a link this doctrine, so I can read the 'fine print?'
Gov. Strickland did sign the bill yesterday. You can try by going to the the Ohio Senate and then bill 184. Buckeye Firearms did have it in it's full form but it was 107 pages. They do have a website of Buckeye Firearms.org and it gives you the short version.
Hope it helps.
ahh gotta love it
