What's up with the NRA and Bill Richardson?

I just learned that the NRA is endorsing incumbent Bill Richardson for Governor, even though he is a Democrat!

Anyone know why the NRA would like me to vote for a DEMO?

Yes, I know he has been gun friendly, so far, but bottom line, he is a democrat! I don't think I can trust any of them in the long run. Do you?

Anyone else from New Mexico here to help me out here?

I'm not from NM but you answered your own question.

      answer...

Dispite the good the NRA does, they are deep into politics. They have an agenda like any other group does. It's a good one but still, they gotta jump in the the pig-pin with the rest of em too.

The NRA transends partys. Their focus is freedom and there are democrats that are pro gun and there are repulicans that are anti gun. I seems like the limes are alot more blury at the state level than at the presidential level.

I vote two things for the Bible and my Guns i dont really car about the party.

I learn what I can about a man running and I vote for the one I think will do the job. At the national level right now you have a big power struggle going on between the elites of this country. I don't think they care at all about America. All they want is power. Remember Rome crumbled from with in before it was defeated. We are heading down the same road IMHO.

I saw Bill Richardson at an NRA meeting in New Mexico. He is a life member and hunts every year with the best of them. What I don't understand is how he could live by that double standard and support Obama who wants an outright ban on handguns.

The NRA is simply a special interest group that focuses on guns. They support gun-friendly politicians. Bill Richardson is pro-gun. I don't see a dichotomy. Don't like his other politics? Don't vote for him. Guns aren't everything.

I can name lots anti-gun Republicans, including one former mayor of NYC who was the GOP presidential frontrunner for the better part of 2007. I can also name a lot of Republicans, including a self-styled "maverick" senator from Arizona, who would like to grind most of the Bill of Rights under their heels.

Bill Richardson has a long history of being gun friendly. signed the Concealed Carry Bill into law and as stated he's an outdoorsmans and a nice guy besides. NM has a long history of democratic govenors who were gun friendly.

Are you suggesting the NRA support Mike Bloomberg because he's a Republican?

Guns and gun rights don't have a party.

While I am very party oriented against the Democrats. That is, any party but the Dems. The party system today is broken.
      Dem, Rep makes little difference.
We recently had a Rep run in the 23rd district of DC I think, Some one please correct me, I am probably wrong on this location. She was a Rino (Republican In Name Only). She dropped out of the race a backed the Liberal Dem, He was nearly beaten by a Independent that no one really knew, what people did know of this Independent was that he was extremely conservative and stood for smaller government and getting rid of the higher taxes in the area.
He lost I think by a 2 or 3 point margin, this was a very LibDem area, and 2 or 3 points. Very close. Libs called it a SWEEPING VICTORY, a LANDSLIDE. 2 or 3 points.
      What BS.

Any way. It is not the party we should be looking at. it is the candidates history. I think some one said it in a earlier post. There are good Dems and bad Reps. This is true. Unfortunately I think there are more bad Reps than there are good Dems.
As much as it would kill me to do it. I would vote for a Conservative dem over a Rino any day.
Probably like you (I'm just guessing here) To me the word Democrat is the same as Satan Worshiper. Because it seems like most of them are just plane EVIL.

I agree with this statement, but do not make the mistake of thinking Bill Richardson is a conservative. He may be 'righteous' on this issue, at least while running for office in NM, but he is a Bill/Hilary Clinton style politician who will keep his finger wetted and in the wind so that he may choose the side of any issue that will get him what he's going after.

He was Secretary of the Interior under Clinton and presided over the theft of the crown jewels of our nuclear secrets from Los Alamos, by Chinese agents. He was slick enough to divert all the criticism for that towards his underlings and various security agencies, with of course, plenty of help from a Clinton-loving media. He was also involved in the deals with Kim Jong Il (North Korean tinpot dictator), whereby Kim pretended to stop working on nuclear warheads, and we gave him billions in 'aid.'

Like a lot of politicians, Bill Richardson could have just as easily been disgraced and chased out of government for his failures...rather than being protected and propped up by the press, so that he could continue his political career.

Richardson was Secretary of the Interior for less than two years. He was appointed to finish out someone elses term. The "theft of the Crown jewels' had already occurred, yet he still gets blamed for it. He was responsible for the release on some prisoners from North Korea becuase of his previous job as UN Ambassador. Why he supports Obama is a mystery to me.
