CCW Expires soon

My NM CCW expires on August 31, so I sent the renewal paperwork in on August 1. Well, I got the application form back the day before yesterday, with the notation: "Wrong Form" on it. Bummer! :smt011

It was accompanied by the correct form which I promptly filled out and sent back yesterday. Guess I'll be unable to carry concealed for a while in September. :smt022

"They" say it takes up to 6 weeks to get the renewed license back. Anyone have any experience with getting their license renewed in New Mexico? How long did it take?

They sent it back in about 2 weeks so maybe they'll turn it around in the same time frame. Have you called them and explained what happened and asked when to expect it?

When the state of New Mexico passed the CCW law, they neglected to allocate additional funding for the DPS to handle the applications, etc. As a result, the DPS employees will tell you that it takes 60-90 days to process the re-application.

I re-upped the first week in May and had my renewal by the 2nd week of July.

When I first applied a couple of years ago, it took 6 months to process.

Two years ago when I applied for my license the first time, it only took approx. 6 weeks to get it from the DPS. I can't believe it took them 6 months to get yours back to you!

I hope it doesn't take that long to get my renewal back, 'cause I can't legally carry concealed in *any* state until I get the renewal. :smt1099

I sent an email. The reply stated that the average turn-around time for renewal is now 90 days!

Ninety Days!

You are only allowed to apply for renewal within 60 days of expiration!

Therefore the NM DPS is intentionally making us all go illegal!

My license came in the mail today! :)

I'm legal once again. This time, it is good for four (4) years! :cool:

Hey guys quick question whats the total cost for getting the CCW. I want to do it but a friend of mine said it was like 300 for the class then 200 bucks a year to keep it....
