    New gun purchase

I currently own a glock 26 concealed carry and because it's a fun little gun but I would like to buy a full size little more "high end" handgun like a sig sauer, HK, or FN. I know I'd like high capacity and reliable and I'd like it to be a fun gun at the range and something I could trust with my life. Any suggestions? A specific model and reasoning would be nice!

Not too long ago, I purchased a SIG P-226 Tac-Ops pistol chambered in 9mm.

I bought one with a threaded barrel. It comes with (4) 20rd. magazines and night sights. Of course, the name pretty much implies that it is a handgun of the highest standards.

I also acquired four more factory 20rd. mags for it, as well as a standard barrel, and a SureFire X-300 Tactical Light for it. I went to the trouble and custom ordered a Pelican two level gun case for it, that houses everything that I have mentioned above.

Get a PX4 Storm and save some $ for ammo.

I don't get what you mean by "fun."

    Sex is fun.

    Horseback riding is fun.

The two are similar in many respects.

22LR pistols and rifles are fun.

Any 9x19mm in hollow points is going to be more than adequate for self defense.

If you want better accuracy, then get a longer barreled 9x19.

But you are not going to be able to get any better accuracy than that until you move up to a 357 magnum revolver. And a 357 is way overpowered for most self defense applications. It is a police weapon, now out of favor, once known for its ability to shoot through car doors and kill gangsters in Chicago.

Regarding high capacity, that all depends on double stacking. But your hands need to be large enough for a double stacked, wide grip. If they are, then there is no reason not to get a double stacked magazine well type pistol.

I like the Springfield XDM 3.8 as it can be both concealed with it's 13rd mag or full size with the 19rd mag. On the other note I have a Sig P228 that I will never get rid of because it works and shoots true to aim. Heck I paid only $350 for it used of course. My next carry piece will be the P229 .40 S&W or 9mm.

If you are thinking of a DA/SA gun, like a Sig 226, make sure you look at CZ's. They are as good, or better, and are much less expensive.I don't understand why people get into Sigs. Box stock CZ SP-01's have better triggers than 226's and have less muzzle flip. A good thing for competitions, including a "2 way range".
