Hey guys! I purchased a Cimarron 1911 45. and loved it! Now I am looking into getting a Ruger P-95 9mm Stainless steel slide. Is it a good buy? I thought so for the price. Which is $400. Anyway, any sugestions? Any serious problems? Advice apreciated
P95 is a rugged, reliable, full-size pistol. It is a mature design. I used mine for my CCW class although it's a bit large (fat and heavy) for concealed carry, IMO. I find the grip a bit big for my hand and the grip doesn't have much texture. Also, the slide mounted safety works opposite from most frame safeties (i.e. down is safe); not a big deal unless you have other pistols that work opposite so that you could get confused in an emergency. The slide rides in channels directly in the plastic frame (vs metal inserts) but this doesn't seem to be a problem. $400 may be a little pricey (my reference is all pre-shortage) but the P95 is normally much less expensive than other quality pistols.
The MSRP for a new P95 is $400 and $435 in SS slide. I think I paid (probably overpaid) $375 for a used, like new SS model in 2010.
