I am looking at purchasing a S&W .460V with a 5" barrel but none of the local stores carry it. They only carry the model with the 8.38" barrel. Has anyone here ever ordered a firearm directly from the manufacturer? If so how does the process work?
Sorry if this is a stupid question but I have never purchase a firearm from any where except my lgs.
Good luck with trying to buy directly from a manufacturer. It ain't gonna happen.
Distributors and dealers would tend to get a little pissed if it was allowed.
Your local store would have to call their distributors or Smith to find out if any are around,and if not order one.I believe the distributors normally do this,when enough orders are obtained the manufacturer will make another run of them.
I spoke with my lgs today and he said he would see what he could do to get one.
I believe that there's a custom-shop process, if you want a factory action- or trigger-job, or engraving, or a special finish, or a special modification.
You might even phone S&W and ask about that option, or look at their website.
