Hey all. New to the site and to hand guns have shot them before but never owned one I'm in the process of figuring out what I want to buy figured this would be a good way to figure out what to get by asking knowledgeable people for options. Thanks and look forward to posting.

Well I figure I might as well start off with what I want to get. I want a 1911 .45 acp handgun not sure what manufacturer I'm gonna go with but by wallet will probably choose that for me. Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Do you want SA or DA. Most companies that make 1911's are making them DAO. A nice 1911 that seems to be a fairly decent price (which I am highly checking into) is the 1911. I am also a fan of the nighthawks (mainly for the tac rail under the barrel).

If the money is tight the Ruger might be worth looking into. The reviews I have read so far have said it is a great gun.

Welcome from the Lone Star State.

The best advice I could give is go fire as many of the guns you are considering as you possibly can. Rent at the range or borrow from friends, if you can. It's difficult, at best, to try to make a decision solely based on reading literature, getting free advice on the internet or even handling pistols in a store. Being able to actually fire a gun is the best way to determine what feels best and shoots best for you. Everyone has a different opinion about which guns are the best. It will ultimately depend on your intended use of the gun, how it feels in your hand, amount you want to spend, etc.
