    A couple of quick questions

    I am new to the forum and am impressed with the level of expertise here. I am also new to handguns and am looking to purchase soon. I am trying to do my research here on the internet initially. I think that I want to look at 9mm subcompacts.

    My first question is whether they have been outlawed. A friend told me that they had been as they are considered Saturday Night Specials.

    Secondly, what is the approximate markup on the price of new guns?

    Let me be the first to caution you about "my friend said" and " I heard from the gun shop guy...", verify before you believe any of it.

    As far as what is legal to buy...it would help to know where you are as some States have a list of handguns that are approved for sale in that State. Gun laws in general can very quite a bit from State to State.

    not in Virginia, the only restriction on sales in VA that I know of are the one handgun a month law and that doesn't apply if you get a concealed permit or buy from an individual.

    The street price is going to vary from dealer to dealer and from manufacturer to manufacturer. I do not work at Bud's Gun Shop and I am not compensated for saying this, but they seem to have pretty good prices across the board. Their website is: http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/index.php This should give you a pretty good idea what any particular guns sells for.
