Looks like rust? Is it? They sure have had a lot of problems with the PF-9. Of corse they had a lot of problems with the P-3AT there for about the first year it was out. Think I'll wait till next year before I even look at one. Good luck with yours.

That looks like a slide that didn't get blued or heat treated properly!!!
It almost looks like it somehow got wet before it was put together!!
Send it in. I would not shoot it!! I'd just pack it up and send it in per the instructions in your manual. I would also call them and tell them what is wrong and to expect shipment!! Make sure you include a copy of your receipt with it when you ship it!!!

Already contacted them and got a UPS call tag. It'll be on the way back to Kel-Tec within a week.

I've seen the simualr problem for other web sites with the PF-9. I was thinking about that one for a while until I researched and saw too many problems for my liking. Maybe in a yeare or two I'll change my mind.

I just bought pf9 today, i broke down when got it home, no problems with mine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's the update. Better late than never.
Got it back within a week. New slide and they upgraded the barrel to the one with the new feed ramp. No charge. Had another issue after that with the takedown pin walking out on it's own a couple of times. New pin took care of that. About 800 rounds so far without any more problems other than finding a SD ammo it liked. Golden Sabres feed reliably. I'm happy with it.

It's going back again. Trigger spring disconnected from the trigger bar. Pretty common problem it seems. I fixed it but sending it in anyway for a new trigger bar with the deeper trigger spring groove. I hear there's one available.

I think I'll stick with my Glock 26.

I just got a PF9.
I have 200 rounds through it and, so far, it seems to be OK.

I just today traded a Taurus 650B for a slightly used PF-9. The Kel-Tec's owner said he hadn't had it long, and decided he wanted a snubby instead. I wanted a lighter carry weapon. This PF-9 looks good, but I haven't fired or disassembled it yet. Dead of winter here, and the closet indoor range is 50 miles away. I'll try to get there later this week, or maybe I'll take it to the woods just for a quick test. First, I guess I'll take it apart this afternoon for an inspection.

I'm hoping this gun is a later gen. I see the warranty will be of no help to me, not being the original owner. (Taurus' warranty is MUCH better!)

I have noticed that the rear sight of mine is set off center. I'm hoping it needs to be centered once I start firing it. Otherwise, an off-center sight suggests to me that things are a little wonky with this gun.

i too have read some problems with these guns
the p32 & .380's &p11 seem to be a little better. i have a p11 , it's
been ok so far.but a lot of problems with the pf9, peening of the slide at
the guide rod. ejector's breaking,

Has anybody gotten the skinny on what the serial number series is for the latest PF9's???

I hear the earliest ones had major issues, but now all worked out???

Kel-Tec is right in Cocoa, FL, less thn an hour from me, so maybe I'll contact them???

Bought a P11!!! Thin enough for me, better history, very light, rear-pocket-packable, and 10+1.

$250 OTD

So far... 50 rounds of UMC 9mm... ZERO FTF, and 3" groups all day at 7M!!!

There is a Kel-Tec 12 round mag that fits the P11 on the Kel-Tec web page, part#P11-36LE Blue (P11 only, 12 rounds). Not sure how they get the 12 round mag to fit where the original 10 round mag fits and still fit flush on the bottom of the grip as it appears it does. Would have been nice to include the 12 round mag as the original if it indead fits flush. I have a 15 round S&W 5900 series Mag with the mag spacer as my spare carry mag and if I can get the 12 round Kel-Tec mag as my in-gun carry mag that will give me a a few more rounds on hand for a CC gun this size and weight, and 9mm too, that is great!
