Funny that you mention a "hairline crack." The KelTec P40 has been known to have such a crack, not in the barrel, but in the side of the frame. Mine is crack-free.

I took it shooting the other day, along with a 357SIG barrel I got. In 40SW, the gun fails to chamber or jams up from time to time. With the 357SIG barrel I had 100% reliability through a box of Winchester Valupak, which is all I had. In 357SIG it makes a good ccw gun, I think. Maybe someone else can get it to function better with 40SW. I have decided to sell the gun, with both barrels, 4 magazines, a holster, a cushioned box, a Pachmyr grip and some ammo in both calibers for $350. I put the ad in the classified section here, too. I sold it. I didn't want to work with the occ. jamming. I replaced it with a Smith and Wesson sw9ve. Another stiff trigger, but very reliable, and high capacity (16 plus one).

I got the .40ve and your right about the trigger being long and stiff at first. It wii free up some with use. Mines not to bad now that I am use to it.
