Has anyone experienced the following problem with the Kel Tec PF 9:
When you pull the trigger back slowly the hammer does not fall completely to discharge the round in the chamber, however if you pull the trigger back a little quicker the hammer will cycle properly and discharge the round in the chamber.

Send the gun back and have it fixed or get rid off it and get one that works. That is not a quirk that is a problem.

With lifetime warranty send it back.
Not all pf9s are bad so don't put up with it
Sounds like an out of spec hammer block. If it's new, call KT to get them to cover shipping.

Got the Kel Tec PF 9 fixed and it was the hammer block. Thanks for the input.
I had a PF9 for about a year, but traded it off on another handgun. It worked fine, but I did not like to shoot it much due to the fact that I felt like I was getting slapped in the hand by a furring strip every time I touched one off. I still have a P3AT that I carry a lot, but shoot a little.
Seems KT got a bad batch of em recently. Hope yours is good to go. I've had good luck with them for 5 years but they ain't everybody's "cup 'o tea".Quote:

I got a similar problem today (second time at the range). I bought it just a week ago, shot about 100 rounds to start the break in. The gun shot flawlessly... not one FTF or FTE. Then, only after 5 days, I brought it back to the range (cleaned and lubed with Frog Lube), the hammer would not completely "fall" to strike the primer. I didn't even get one round to fire... just several half-clicks of the Hammer. It appears that the hammer block safety is keeping it from completely falling to strike. Rather than tinker with it (although very tempting), I just gave it back to the range (I bought it from Maxon's in Des Plaines, IL) under the warranty.Quote:

Other than a little rust on the slide to deal with from sweat, mine has operated fine; goes bang every time. I agree; send it back to the mother ship for repair/replacement under the lifetime warranty.

After a second trip to Kel Tec, it was finally fixed. It was the hammer block. It shoots flawlessly now.

I have the same issue with my new PF-9 here is the email back and forth with Kel Tec I don't have the first email because it was through there website but my second email reads about the same. I emailed them Thursday night here is the Comm.

releasing all the way ) the hammer goes into the reset position instead of all the way

is catching the hammer before it hits the firing pin it would probably be easier if you just
sent me a new hammer block so he can put it on. it should be a little quicker than

Bought my pf9 almost 2 months ago. 2 ftfs within the 1st 80 rounds. Took it back to my dealer, and after keltec sent him new parts, it still didnt work properly, and he sent it back to kt. Still dont have it back. I hope it functions properly when I get it back. I love the size, and when it did fire, I had pretty good groupings. You should not have to worry about your weapon firing when needed. My xd9 and my 92fs are a joy to shoot, and I NEVER worry about if they are going to go BANG!
I have some of the lower priced handguns, and Kel Tec is among them. I had issues with a PF-9, that I don't have anymore. The P-11 has ran strong and so has the P3AT I have. I think with some of the lower end guns, one should expect some of the little quirks that go along with the money not spent. Its a gamble I have found.
