I am not certain with the PF-9, but the P-11 this is common and by design. Kel-tec calls it a slide STOP not slide release. I got in the habit after a reload of just pulling and releaseing the slide. Now, 2 years and about 400 rounds later, i can almost use the stop as a release. I would say staright out.. don't change it (although some have) use it as the manufacturer designed it.

Same for PF9. Gets better with use or mine did.

I have a PF9 as well and mine does the same. Its EXTREMELY hard to just close the slide with just a flick of the Slide Catch. so i just load a mag and just tug back on the slide and it will load the round. No big deal really but every PF9 i messed with this weekend at the local show was the same way.

I've had my PF9 for over a year now & love it. The 'pocket clip' makes it so easy to just drop in my RF jeans pocket when off to the store, etc.
How not to love a 12 oz [7+1] that is less than an inch thick?
I did have to put about 100 rounds through it before it became a reliable feeder, though.
I put the 100 rounds through in one range session... [ain't a range gun], but now I only run a mag through every 2 months or so. Actually, if I get a good 3 round group at 20ft, I'm good.
Only use the +P for carry, now.
