Uh oh...P3AT ejecting problems...Not limpwristing

Well, this is around 200 round through the P3AT so far, and less than 2-3 FTEs, most when others are shooting it, and likely limpwristing. Overall, I'm pretty happy...Until today.

Went to the range, and it's unfortunately been over 1.5-2 months since shooting last, and that in and of itself is killing me, but that's done with. Shot through 50 today, and out of those, probably 15 stovepiped/got halfway out. Another 5 simply did not extract, forcing me to disassemble it to look through the barrel to ensure a bullet did not lodge in the barrel (they would fire, slide cycled, but no extraction).

Another separate problem is that a magazine could not be inserted into the gun without pushing the magazine release button. It was as though the magazine release was barring the entry path through the grip.

I also had problems with my P22, but that's for another time after I get my primary carry taken care of...Any thoughts? Thanks

You may have a ammo problem. Give it a light fluff and buff and a real good cleaning, lube it good and see what happens.

If you haven't shot or cleaned/lubed it in 2 months, that's a possible source of problem. Make sure extractor is tight & give her another try? With the plastic mag releases I just automatically push button to insert mags on all KTs.

Good to know the mag problem may well not be just on mine. Frustrating that wasn't always like this...Oh well.

And a good cleaning is definitely in order as soon as I get caught up with organic chemistry. Hopefully that'll work with things. I suppose since it'll be a week at minimum until I'll have it cleaned and go shooting again, this was almost more of a rant thread than an advice seeking one lol, but it's good to hear that the lack of cleaning may well be the issue. Thanks guys, and I will put up an update pending a clean/shoot hopefully this week.

Has your P3AT ever been field-stripped before you went to the range? If so, then it's a good possibility that you have lost the ejector. The ejector is a very small piece that slips into the left side of the frame. It is not held in place by anything, so it can slip out if you turn the stripped frame upside down while cleaning. It is very small, so many will not notice that it fell out.

If you aren't sure, remove the slide and see if a little plastic block sits at the back end of the left side inner frame rail....

PhilR has good point about ejector. Although I did the same thing and it still worked w/o ejector. Didn't realize it was missing til I stripped it for cleaning. Found little bugger laying right there on bench. Put a dab of lube on it and it stays in better now.

my experience has been great... the more i shoot the better it gets...

1st 100 rounds 4 ejection failures, 2 feed failures which dented the lead, 6 stovepipes.
2nd 100 rounds 5 ejection failures, 10 or so stovepipes (attribute this to shit ammo)
3rd 100 rounds 1 feed failure which dented the lead and 2 stove pipes
4th 100 rounds 0 problems
5th 100 rounds 0 problems

however i ran a brush through the barrel last night while cleaning it and it seems to have loosened up a big mess of deposits that my solvent apparently never cleaned out in previous cleanings... so I am looking forward to shooting it tomorrow night to see if it is still functioning as good as it was before.
