People have been hunting and eating turkey for a long time. And only recently have they started spending a small fortune on accessories.
If you've got camo and a shotgun, you're good to go. You can accumulate the rest of the stuff you "need" as you get experience and can decide for your self that you need it.
I've got a friend who's idea of turkey hunting is to sit in his barn until a turkey walks by - then he shoots it in the head with a .22 (no pellets in the meat!). He eats very well.
