Err, yeah, what exactly is it? It looks like it's a cut down bolt action rifle, but wouldn't it be difficult to use? You usually use your right hand to work the action, but with a pistol type stock like that, your right hand is holding the gun...

I just made a pic of my handguns a while back but need to make another one. I should have the wife do it. She's a photographer but I just don't like hearing her get on me for all the attention I give to me weapons..heh

What model is that scoped wheel gun? That's pretty sharp I really like the grips you have on your 1911's too. Lot to be said about some good wood.

Indeed that bottom "hand rifle" is a Remington XP-100 that has been restocked with a Fajen laminated number that I did a bit of reshaping to. The 7mmBR its chambered for fires a 120 grainer at 2,555 fps with a very flat trajectory. The Burris 2-7X LER scope helps ensure I get the performance this round is capable of. It is a single shot so having the bolt on the right really isn't that big of a deal. You grip with your right hand and place the heel of the stock in your left hand palm face up. That said when Savage introduced their version of a hand rifle, they did put the bolt on the left for right handed shooters.

The scoped 6" wheelgun is a 1991 Taurus M689 357 Mag wearing a Hogue Concalo Alves Checkered Monogrip and a Burris 2X LER PA scope in Millet rings on a Weigand ribmounted Scopemount.



The AMT 380 Backup II (SAO) is one that I've been quite lucky with. It has proved very reliable since I acquired it in 1997. I don't particularly like the 380 ACP round but you can't beat the concealability of this piece.

The 1911 grips are (from top down) George Mitchell's bookmatched zebrawood, Nick Ozanich's super curly makore, and Hogue rosewood. The Hi-powers both wear Craig Spegel presentation grips, cocobolo and Madagascar rosewood respectively. The 1986 vintage Taurus PT99AF wears Wayland checkered Bocote grips.

You got some nice guns. Tell me about the lower Hi-Power, it has a shorter than usual slide. Is this one of the "detective" kits that was for sale a few years back?

Thanks You've got a good eye. That is a 1994 vintage FM (Argentinian) Detective M90 pistol. Not a kit either. It sports a number of tweaks including Cylinder & Slide spring kit, trigger and safety, as well as my hand stippling of the grip front and back straps. The gun has been re-blued too. It's a great shooter and one of "those" guns that has never hiccuped from day one, which is remarkable considering its cost.

As an aside, SARCO still is selling the newer M95 version of the Detective pistol as well as conversion kits. I got mine new from a local gun shop.

Thanks! Over the years I have had other wheelguns including a Charter Arms snubbie and a Ruger SA. They were nice but ultimately didn't match up well with my personal druthers, usage, and comfort level. I'm much more of a semi-auto fan than wheelgun. And too as a sexagenerian, I'm pretty much set in my ways

Most the grips I have on mine now are rather made by me or I've bought off an old guy that has an eBay store.
My Mil Spec has Elk that were hand made by a guy out west.
My LTC has a white cocobolo. The SS Springer has a set of hand made book matched walnut grips. The Colt officers are walnut wrap around things I found online and the PT191 has a set of Burk Buckeye but 'm going to be changing those to a set of Indian Rosewood I think. I just got a set finished up that I think might look a lot better than the ones on it now.

That's the link to a guy I've bought a few sets of grips off. He don't always get the best finish on them but the wood is fantastic and he sells pretty cheap. I refinished a couple sets and ended up selling them for a lot more than what I payed. And I wasn't even looking to sell..heh

I have quite a few sets of grips not on guns. I need to get them back out and look for something to put them on. Or at least give me an excuse to go gun shopping.

At the pricing that ebayer you linked asks and considering your qualifier about the finish, I'd sooner go to Ryan Payne aka Sarge43 (www.thefinergrain.com), Esmeralda (http://www.esmeralda.cc/), or other known high quality makers and spend my $65 or more there.

The guys that have the site gungripguys.com have a store there too. I've bought a few off them as well but have not seen anything they have made in a little while.

Yeah the old guy don't always get the best finishes but the wood is pretty hard to come by. He has got a lot better though than he was a couple years ago. I will pick out 2-4 sets then email him with an offer. After the haggle fest I can get them usually for about half to two thirds the list. I've got lately into just making them myself. That way I feel like I can be more inventive with the finishes. I have access to some pretty nice woods though with what's around me as well as some contacts with a couple floor and cabinet makers.

you have some fantastic grips on your collection. Nothing like a nice set of wood grips I say. I always though the plastic/rubber grips made the weapon look cheaper. But I"m a strange guy with some odd ideals..heh

The paucity of ammo and reloading components had me looking at the finishes on my guns. Three of the "JMB" guns I treated to Gun-Kote over a decade ago. The P45C/T evidenced a lot of carry wear and both the Colt and BHP slides showed some minor chips. Sooooooo..... off they went yesterday to Jack First for bluing. Asked for a "tactical" matte blue on the carry comp and a 400 grit deep royal blue for both slides. Didn't want a mirror finish on these, just something a step up I'll get them back in two weeks.

Got the P45C/T gun, BHP and Colt slides back today almost a week earlier than expected. The refinishing sure makes a difference

The stainless parts were beadblasted; all else blued.
