Hello from Texas, Welcome to the forum!
Glad to be on this forum. I have always liked hand guns, even though now I live in a handgun unfriendly state.
Looking forward to participating.

Welcome from someone who is able to enjoy our freedom here in Virginia. What a difference a river makes. You do know that you can come down here and openly carry at your wont, don't you? I know some who do just that for OC get togethers.

Hi and welcome
Welcome from Stone Mountain Georgia
Virginia doesn't really need a Castle Doctrine law because of the type of defense which can and will be mounted by a victim's attorney (if he's any good) when the victim has been forced to use deadly force in his defense. We have what is known as an "affirmative defense". Also, Virginia is a "true man" state. This means we are a stand your ground state wherever you might be as long as you: have a legal right to be there, and you are not party to the encounter or its escalation.
With that said, a bill was on the table for last year's general assembly session but was pulled because there were very real concerns about how it was written and the possibility that we could lose some of our protections we enjoy. A new bill has been drafted and should be presented this year for consideration. It is much better and specifically addresses issues in a manner not to disturb what we already have. I have read the bill in its entirety and am satisfied with its content.
