Both are 9mm, so I can practice tons while keeping costs down (and 9mms are FINE, just fine for HD...uh oh, caliber debate to start in three, two, one...). These are excellent firearms made by long-standing premier firearms companies, even if they aren't as popular as others like S&P, Sig, Ruger, etc. No right or wrong, just my choice. I would note that CZ has an intensely loyal base of devotees and few detractors, so it is at least worth checking their products out to see if they appeal to you.
BTW, are you in Northern NJ? Where do/will you shoot?
