    Greetings from Massachusetts

    Hi all,

My name is Eric and I have been lurking here for about a month so I thought I would register and introduce myself. I'm brand new to shooting (never even handled a firearm of any type until my basic handgun course last month) and have found the information available in this forum to be immensely useful. I applied for my license exactly one month ago and expect to wait at least another month to receive it. I've spent this time shooting at a local public range for practice and researching my first purchase.

Once I finally receive my LTC, I plan to buy a 9mm Sig 2022 because I felt very comfortable with the usability of the P226 and P229 but can't afford either of those right now. I realize that there are differences between these models, not the least of which is the polymer construction of the 2022, but have read good things in forums like this one and am comfortable with other relatively lightweight handguns I have used. Plus, with the money I save I might be able to pickup a .22 for additional practice without breaking the bank.

I look forward to contributing to this forum and I thank all of you for the knowledge you've provided thus far.

    -EB

Thanks everyone! The wait is tough but I was able to get out to the range again this weekend and shoot a few hundred rounds. I shot a P226 9mm again and am definitely still liking the feel of the Sig but wish they had a SP2022 so I can be sure I like that one a much as the "classic" models (the P229 is my favorite so far). I will definitely be heading over to a shop to try out the feel as soon as I get my license in the mail.

Thanks. It's definitely a challenge but not impossible (depending on where you live). The chiefs of police in each city/town have a lot of discretion when it comes to issuing unrestricted (full CCW) licenses. I'm fortunate enough to live in one of those towns where an unrestricted LTC is the standard so I'm hoping that it will work out. There are no guarantees when it comes to MA though...
