Hi and welcome.....see if the Sig SP2022 is legal in CA and if so take a look at one.....JJ
Hi guys. Im 29 and went out shooting for the first time for a friends birthday a couple months ago. After shooting an assortment of handguns, shotguns, and AKs and Sks my girlfriend and i looked at each other and asked why we hadnt done this sooner. Since then ive gone to an indoor range with a friend atleast every other week.
Now im regularly searching the internet for all i can on each and every gun trying to decide which to aquire first and second and etc....sadly im finding most of my top favorites arent even california legal like the CZ sp-01 tactical. Ive shot my friends glock 17 but find i hate the grip angle but love the feel of the CZ 75B.
Anybody else from the central coast?
Hi and welcome.....see if the Sig SP2022 is legal in CA and if so take a look at one.....JJ
Thanks JJ. Ive only ever heard of the Sigs being really nice and very expensive. Mostly over the 1 k range.
My budget originally started at 400 looking at Ruger sr series which then i discovered CZ and loved the feel of those and then found their newer ones for 600 or so for the tactical or duty but those ofcourse arent legal. Im really accurate with a buddy's glock 1722 but hate the pain in my wrist the next day from the odd grip angle. If the gen 4s were legal id consider those as well since the grips were changed.
It seems most XD and sigs are approved here. Any recommendations in a 9 or 40? Mostly for range fun but also as home defense so a tac rail would be nice. Backup plan is just get a decocking 75b and enjoy for a while.
Welcome from Jersey
The Ruger SR9 is a good gun is it legal there? The SR9 is a nice weapon.
The CZ 75's are great guns Look at the P-01(Compact model) I think they are on the list (not sure). It has the tac rail, which seems like a cool thing, but is unused on many mnay of the guns that have them. I own the SR9 the SP-01 Tac and the P-01. The P-01 is my Favorite.
Good luck be safe.

Thanks RCG. Why would u rank the p0-1 over the tactical? And i havent handled the ruger yet but does it have the soft safe action trigger like that of a glock? One main reason i favored the tactical was that i was going to train my girlfriend to use it as well until she gets a smaller one of her own and i dont like the idea of having to worry about a safety. Plus a decocker since it is my first handgun and releasing a cocked hammer on a live round irks me just a little though id forgive that feature on CZs SA model witg the great beavertail.
Because it is more versitale. I do compete with the SP-01 Tact but I keep the P-01 on my bed stand and carry it on occasion. The SR9 has a satisfactory trigger that is very comparable to a Glock which is also satisfactory. The SP-01 is a great accutrate very versitale habd gun. Not as heavy as the SP-01. The P-01 is a decocker model as well.

The Sig SP2022 is available for under 400.00........that is one of the reasons it is the best kept secret in handguns....the other is it is a great pistol no matter what the price.....just ask those that own them.......JJ
Ironically i just had breakfast with a retired highway patrol friend and he asked if i had bought a gun yet. When ireplied no he said just buy a sig. And that its worth the thousand dollars. Went to a new gun store and they had a CZ sp-01 tactical in 40 that he couldnt sell me cause its non legal but then handed me a 226badge saying that was.
He ironically thought the 9mm version of the tactical would be but i think he was confused with the old tactical. Howevwe if he can get me the CZ i think thatl be it. The sig grip felt great and the gun solid if not a little tall.plus the price with a baby on the way i better keep it under a thousand lol
