Welcome to the site!
Had grandparents in Traverse City while I was growing up; loved visiting them, beautiful area.
My brother and I would pedal down to the nearest (East bay?) boat launch in early Spring and offer to hold the recently-launched fishing boats (for a small fee) while the owners parked their vehicles. Easy money, but DAAAAAANG that water was cold. First your legs went white, then bluish-gray. When you couldn't feel them tingling any more, it was time to take a break and pedal around until feeling returned. Good times...
