New to the forum and new to guns in general. I'm 24, married, and living with my wife in Jefferson City, Missouri. Like I said, I'm pretty new to guns, the only experience I have is shooting .22 rifles in Boy Scouts some ten years ago. That being said, my wife recently brought up (after watching Couples Retreat) how much better she'd feel if we had a gun that I could have when I went to investigate those middle-of-the-night disturbances.
Thus I began to look into getting a handgun. I've done a lot of reading and watched a lot of YouTube videos (mostly Nutnfancy's stuff), but I'm still overwhelmed with all of the different options. Which is mainly why I wanted to join this forum. Right now I'm leaning towards a Glock 19, but we'll see if that changes once I'm able to rent it a the range and give it a try.
The first steps would be to take a basic handgun safety course (NRA preferred) and rent/shoot as many as possible at various ranges. The course will be the best option available, and from there you can make your choice as you learn more about the different options. Good luck with your search.
