Welcome from Iowa! Plenty of good choices in that price range, first to come to mind is the
CZ75b, retail price should be right about in the middle of your price range.

I prefer a full size or compact, that's just me. Some prefer a sub compact.
In that price range, I'd also look at Bersa Thunder 9Pro, Smith & Wesson SW99, M&P9, Kahr CW9 and the Springfield XD.
as of caliber im reading your post you sent me and its axactly what i need i did a little shoping around what do you think of .22 caliber?

Welcome from NC. As others have said, there are a lot of options in your price range. My suggestion would be to try out as many guns as you can and then make a decision.

Welcome from Alabama. Listen to the multitude of opinions, study various reviews, handle and test fire as many pistols as feasible before making your purchase. Once you select your first pistol, you will be looking for your second one!!!!

You can surely meet people at the range. I've found the majority of people who shoot guns regularly are very nice and approachable. I know I'm always up for a chat about guns.
