Hi all. Im new to this whole pistol thing. Im 24 and just got my permit, was woundering if anyone had any sugestions for me for my first gun, used for both target shooting but would like to carry also, price range around $400-$500 thanks

Welcome from Iowa! Plenty of good choices in that price range, first to come to mind is the CZ75b, retail price should be right about in the middle of your price range.

I prefer a full size or compact, that's just me. Some prefer a sub compact.

In that price range, I'd also look at Bersa Thunder 9Pro, Smith & Wesson SW99, M&P9, Kahr CW9 and the Springfield XD.

For carry / defense, hell no. For range only there's nothing better.

.22 ammunition is probably has the most failures to fire than any other caliber, the guns them selves can be finicky etc.

Welcome from NC. As others have said, there are a lot of options in your price range. My suggestion would be to try out as many guns as you can and then make a decision.

You can surely meet people at the range. I've found the majority of people who shoot guns regularly are very nice and approachable. I know I'm always up for a chat about guns.

I know what you mean. It's like some people don't even care about treating someone right and actually making a sale. I don't care how cheap a place is, if they are assholes I won't give them any of my business.

alright i been shopping and the ones i have in mind are the Glock 19, Smith&Wesson SW9VE, or Springfield GI.45 and MIL-SPEC what do you all think of these guns pros n cons?
