Just recently joined the forum and have been reading up on pistols while I recover from eye surgery. I hope I will still be able to shoot!
I own a 1870 (approx) Remington 44 that my great grandfather used out west. I think he was the original owner. It was in my Dad's desk for years. I can't fire it so I've been thinking about getting a handgun to take to the range. It's been 40 years since I owned a gun. An Ithaca 16 gauge double barrel, single trigger and, of course, a .22 rifle for the groundhogs and squirrels.
I will try to post pictures of the Remington when I get I can. My Dad always said, as I remember, that it was a Colt 44, but it looks like a Remington to me.
Thanks for all the great information here!
