Welcome to the Forum...
9mm isn't too hard to come by. There's a small shortage in places like Wal-Mart or other places to get it cheaper. For the most part its pretty abundant at Gun Shops but they are usually a few bucks more per box. Like here Wal-Mart has 9mm WWB for $13 a box for 50 rnds. but the shelves are always bare. Now Just down the road at the gun shop the same box is $18. I originally had my PX4 in 9mm but switched it out for a .40 model instead due to ammo being hard to find cheap. .40 at Wal-Mart is like $16 a box and closer to $22 a box at the Shops, but Wal-Mart has never been short of .40 yet.

My final thought is a 9mm is always a great starter pistol. I bought my first pistol 2 months ago....the only reason i went .40 over 9mm is cause ammo WAS hard to find by me (ie: I can get 50 rnds of .40 for a little cheaper than 50 rnds of 9mm) so why not? You'll be happy with the 9mm.....I would just try to buy up as much 9mm as you can.....if you are in a Wal-Mart stop by the sporting goods section and if they have 9mm buy it!
Good luck and enjoy shooting!
