Hey all, new member from Pa. I'm kind of in the market for a nice handgun and just want it for recreational purposes. Just lookin to start gathering info from reading. Any suggestions are more than welcome, useful reading on brands etc. Thanks!

Welcome from IA! I used to live in PA, where do you live? If you're on the eastern side of the state I know most of the good shops and ranges.

Best advice I can give is to find a place that rents pistols and shoot as many as you can to see what you like and what you don't. After you decide on what model to get and you buy it, shell out a couple $$$ on a good holster and belt and take an NRA basic pistol class or a brief period of instruction from the range guru.

I'm actually on the western side of the state, right on the border of Pa and Ohio. Thanks for the warm welcome, it makes posting easier when other members as welcoming as ya'll are.
