I've always loved guns, and I've been old enough to own a gun for a few years now.. I've always told myself I would buy a gun once I'm old enough but the money was a big issue.. My boss was the one who got me to finally seal the deal and go buy a gun.. I fell in love with the Sig Sauer P220 .45 caliber black on black
Now the next step is to get a concealed weapons permit. I live in Florida if thats important.
Does anyone have any information that I should know being a newbie and all?
btw
I bought the pistol for the following reasons mainly:
a. home protection
b. work- I work graveyard shift, as far as I'm concerned at least 3/4 of crime is commited between the hours of 2 and 4am and or once they stop serving alcohol... there are alot of shady people walking around at 3am and I'm very vulnerable walking to and from my work truck .. if your wondering I deliver bread
c. for a new hobby.. I've always liked shooting bb and air pistols when I was a teen.. my mom always had to take them away from me cause I would shoot them in the house at boxes and the air pistol I had was a lot stronger than my old one and it would penetrate the box both through and through and into the wall..
so the love for guns has always been a part of me
Feel free to let me in on any information that you wish someone would have told you when you first picked up this hobby/gun fetish

I live in Florida. Buy, read, memorize the contents of this book. It is used to teach the CWP course at most gun shows, private classes and is suposedly used by "80 Law Enforement Agencies, and Seven Florida Police Acadamies". (thier words)
It was written by a Florida lawyer. It's available at most gun shops.
Florida Fireaems: Law, Use, & Ownership. By Jon H. Gutmacher, Esq. It will probably be about $24.
btw Welcome aboard from Pinellas County.![]()
Florida is a state that is very gun relaxed, except for no open carry. I plan on applying for my CCW very soon.

Hi from Maryland
Welcome from southeast Texas.
Hey, you live in Pinellas county? I was born in Pinellas county.. but currently I live in Pasco County
I saw that book at the gun shop today, but I was too busy getting all the things straight for the weapons carry permit class that I'm going to take.. which firing range do you usually shoot at?
Nice Gun..and welcome to the forum..Just be careful, the SIG P220 is not your toy air pistol any more. this will punch a hole side to side in the box, your wall and your neighbors wall as well...just kidding..I know you are all grown up now and responsible.
Hi RogerThat I usually go to Bill Jacksons on Hwy 19 in Pinellas Park. I understand that there's a range on Ridge Rd (New Port Richie I think). I have a buddy who lives in N.P.R. who's been trying to get me to that range. Good luck with your SIG.
Welcome from PA!
haha yeah I figured that when I shot it for the first time in the range... this was actually the first gun I've ever fired as well.. so when I shot a 9mm I was surprised to how much less recoil it had.. I was much more accurate with the 9mm but I liked the .45's power
Never heard of Bill Jackson, but I'll look for it cause I pass that area everyday for work. The range on ridge is where I got my Sig P220, and have shot there a few time since than
Thanks gunluver
