Hi, just bought my first handgun

Hi all,

The name is Jesse, from Southwest Michigan. I just bought my first handgun, a Springfield XD40. I was looking around the net for some useful information sites for handgun owners and this site look very well put together.

Just thought I would introduce myself.

Oh and BTW, I am in love with my XD. Anyone else who owns an XD feel like I do?

Welcome from southeast Texas. I had 2 XD 45's. Sold one to finance something else. The remaining one I carry during cold weather months. Love the XD and it's a lot of fun to shoot. Good choice for a first handgun.

I used to really like (can't say it was love) the two XD's I had, until I sold them to fund my Sig, and haven't regretted the decision.

Another welcome from the Sandhills area of NC. (Seems there's alot of Carolina blue here eh?).

I'm new to handguns, bought an XD 40 as my first weapon, can't think of anything wrong with it.

Todd, what did you find was the differences between the XD's and the Sig? Back into learning mode.

My hand fits the Sig a lot better than the XD. I also prefer a DA/SA gun with the added bonus of my model having Sig's SRT (Short Reset Trigger). The trigger overall IMO is a lot smoother on the Sig. I just shoot better with the Sig than the XD. And in the non-function area, I think the Sig is a lot better looking than the XD.

I remember when you sweet talked the XD9SC. Actually, a friend of mine has got me looking at Sig's. I told him it was going to have to wait until I get the AR paid off, then next on my list is an SP-01, then, maybe.......

I still think the XD is a really good gun and better looking than the "Block", but when I compare the XD's squared slide and blocky frame to to my P229's rounded lines (yes to all the XD fans, I know it's because of my particular model's dehorning), my Sig wins the beauty contest in my eyes.

I'll warn you, once you get the "Signess", it's hard to go back to other guns.
