    Thanks for the friendly welcome. This sure does seem to be a real fine hand fun site! Here in Chicopee, Western Mass, it sure is a unique place. I'm just a bit North of Springfield, home of Smith and Wesson.

    I'm about to buy my first hand gun. I'm located 4 miles from the home of Smith and Wesson. Even though I go to the S&W shop/range 2-3 times a week. Everyone I talk with seems to like the Sig P226. I think I'm going to buy that one first, considering the cost of Ammo. Then, I'm going to buy a S&W 1911 45.

    At the range, I have tried both S&W 1911 and their top 9mm, the 952. I shoot best with their 1911. I can get it around $850 new. The S&W 952 retails for 2200. I don't even shoot well with it. So, I'm going with what I am most comfortable. Plus, the 45 sure seems to be a "stopper" in a home defense situation.

    Mass sure does a limited choice of "approved" hand guns. I believe I will relocate to a more hand gun friendly state. Someplace where it's warm so I can ride my motorcycle to the range whenever I want!

    I grew up in Amherst, few years in Westfield, and then settled in Easthampton for college and beyond. If you ever do move, you will love the "freedom" of living in a state that doesn't restrict everything related to firearms.
