Hi to everyone, my name is Rick. I am completely new to handguns and very excited about purchasing my first. My wife has finally agreed to to let me own a handgun (insert tears of joy here) as I have only fired rifles in the past. I've held a few different handguns at the local range/shop can't remember which ones but I do remember one because of how perfect it felt in my hand, it was a S&W M&P 9mm. I will be making a purchase in the next few weeks so if there are any other suggestions please feel free.
Welcome from southeast Texas. For a first handgun, your choice of a 9mm is a good one.The M&P is a good handgun, but, if you can get to a range that rents, try as many as possible to give you better options. Glock, XD, M&P, Sig, etc. All good choices, just how much do you want to spend? Good luck with your search, keep us posted.:smt023
welcome from Michigan..Also check out the CZ 75 they come in a variety of compacts (like P01 and D PCR Compaact) and in full size ( CZ 75 BD, CZ 75 SP01)..
Congrats (all most) on the M&P. 'Course I'm biased. I own two. Use to own a Glock, use to own 4 XDs... Now just 2 M&Ps... 9PRO, and 9c. (And a few 3 or 4 others)
Welcome aboard from Pinellas County. It's always good to see another Floridian come join the fold.
Note that there is an area for Floridian shooters (and all others), if you have Florida specific questions.
