Welcome!![]()
Hey guy's and Gal's!
Just a hello from very cold NH. Found this forum last night. Seems like alot of good info and a well used forum. I hope to find and share lots of info and fun on here.
My experiences are mostly rifle shooting and a lesser amount of handguns. Have or still own:
Glock 26, 19, 17
Ruger Redhawk 44mag, Singlesix convertable(22lr,22mag)
Springfield XD9
S+W 686-4
That's about it from what I can rember on handguns. Have shot various friends stuff from Walther p22's to Sig 40 calibre's(unsure of models), Ruger semi's, Colt single actions, and a very nice modified S+W 22LR.
Many various rifles as well from Owning a bunch of 22's(Henry lever, Savage MK2-BV, 93R-17 thumbhole stock, Ruger 1022). Mosin Nagant M44. Usual stuff. Spend most of my range time with the various 22's due to ammo cost!
Needed a new toy and another cary option(CCW in NH). Searched a bunch on the net looking into what I had seen at the local shop. And that is where I came across this forum.
I was looking into a Taurus 605(stainless 357). Saw it in the shop a few days ago and was inpressed with it's seeming fit and finish for the price. Read many many reviews and feedback. Did find some negative but most of it seemed to be dated or older negatives and found many posts of increased quality of recent times. So I went to buy and pick it up this morning. The guy's at the place I buy almost all of my stuff were great as usual(Thanks KTP...Kittery Maine). Bought 200 rounds of ammo as well.100 rounds of 357 and 100 rounds of 38spl +p. Went right to the range. Man was it cold. About 10 degree's and very strong winds. The shooting house it covered but still very cold. Got 60 rounds through it though. Not a hitch, all fired perfect. No sticky extraction, no shaved lead, no miss fires, no hard trigger pull. So I am happy thus far with the new purchase. But man in that cold(couldn't wear glove on shooting hand due to small trigger guard) that was all I could take. The 357's print about 4inches right and about 1 high at 15 yards, but the 38+p was right on if not a little low(I use 6 oclock hold). Gonna have to find an 357 that prints good after break in as the sights are not adjustable. But that was a little far for it's intened range anyhow. Groupings were pretty good as the 357's were about 4 inches and the 38's were less at about 3 inches. Not bad for a new gun with a 2 inch barrell and shooting freehand in cold wind! BRRRRRRR My hand was hurting after the 357's. The 38+p were a joy to shoot though.
So hello everyone and just wanted to share some backround and an experience with my joining introduction.
Happy Newyear as well!![]()
