Hi, guys (and gals, I'm sure)! I've been lurking here for a while, and thought I'd officially say "hello"! And Merry Christmas!

I recently bought my first hand gun, a Taurus Millennium Pro PT-111, and have fired about 500 rounds thru it during the past week (new gadget fever ,you know). Had a few misfires at first, but the last 300 rounds, no problems at all.

I will eventually replace it (got it new, fairly cheap) but so far have been quite pleased with the pistol. My accuracy at 15 yards is another story!

I've got a question, and maybe I should post this in a separate section, but what advice do you guys have about purchacing a used handgun? Obviously, it's a cheaper way to get a quality gun, but what do you look for in used pistols?

Thanks in advance!

All of mine were purchased used and I haven't had any issues with any of them (3 pistols, 3 rifles, 1 shot gun).

For me, I don't care too much about the cosmetics. I don't mind holster wear or handling marks - as long as the mechanical parts look as they should. Also, all but my first rifle (gun show for $50 with a LOT of ammo thrown in) were purchased form people or businesses I trust. The private sales were from friends and the store bought ones were from places I have done business with before and who stand behind what they sell.
