Hello I am also from dutchess. I am In the process of applying for my permit. That is fast for a turnaround the application says up to 6 months. I just need to get 2 references back. Any tips? Any good gun shops in the county?

Where in dutchess county? if you go a little north to valatie in columbia county there is a GREAT gun shop. But i guess it depends if you are in north or south dutchess. there is also a nice one (don't people though) south on 22 near patterson.

Thanks for the reply. I live in southern dutchess...Beekman area. Where is the shop nere patterson? Also do you know of a good club or range to join in my area I have found a few but I was wondering if anyone was a member of one. Thanks

If you don't mind crossing the river to Orange County, Thruway in Walden (huge selection), Rix Gun Shop in Goshen and Master Class in Monroe are all good shops staffed by good people. Davis Sporting Goods in Florida and Sloatsburg are not so good (my opinion). Master Class and Davis in Florida both have shooting ranges.

The shop near patterson. lets see. just off 22. one or 2 streets south of the hanaofords plaza there. Sorry i get down that way about 1 every 3 months, and am pulling this from my oggy memory. i THINK it is south oftowne crier cafe and such. north of the old army navy store.
I know f no ranges in that area, but the pawling rod game club may. i will try to get contact info for them.

The Gun Store in Paterson is Tri-County. Not a big selection (handguns)and very expensive. In Hopewell Junctrion there is Collector Guns and Ammo on Route 82. Small little crowded shop, large selection of handguns, you have to go outside to change your mind. The counter is usually 3 deep waiting to be waited on. But, But, has the best prices in Dutchess County, at least that I have found. Worth the hassel and the sometimes "not to friendly staff".

I just went to the shop on 82 last week and there was a guy John who was very helpful. The shop was busy and the phone did not stop ringing but he made the time to talk to me. I dont even have a license yet but he gave me useful information. I give them two thumbs up.

If you don't mind crossing the river to Orange County, Thruway in Walden (huge selection), Thruway has a great selection but i feel like if u look young then they dont want anything to do with you but thats my opinion..also gander mountain in kingston or middletown if u wanna take a drive..they are pretty good..
