Denny believe it or not, it doesn't rain near as much as every one thinks. we have a lower rain fall total for a year then most states.

We use to live in Yakima many moons ago... It was semi-arid where we lived...
The Cascades are a beautiful mountain range! We liked it there!

    Ahem!
Annual precipitation ranges from 7 to 150 inches depending on location within the state. Don't kid us, or else tell us where you live. :P

I now live at 22.5 inches, but grew up at 40+ or so.

A difference that is often not realized for western Washington, is that if "chance of rain" is reported at 60%, that means it will rain for 60% of the day. If chance if rain is 10%, it will rain 10% of the day. If chance of rain is 2%, it will still rain. You just figure it will rain and plan from there. I now live in eastern Washington where the "chance of rain" has a more normal meaning.

I friend of mine reports while traveling across the state and listening to weather reports, that the reports varied from "mostly cloudy" to "partially cloudy" to "mostly sunny" to "sunny skies" while the sky overhead never changed. It is just a matter of perception of what is expected for the area.

    Thanks for the welcome guys.
Don I live in the northern cascade foothills of Western Washington. to be precises Concrete, on hwy 20 the north cascade highway.
you no the old saying, wait 5 minutes and the weather will change. the last 10 years or so the weather sure has been uncommon for this area.
either its to dry and hot or its cold and raining all year long. so far we have had a mild winter around here and spring has been unusually warm. it looks like we are headed for another hot dry summer.
