The only XD that I have shot is the .45 service model. What a gun! I liked it a lot and it felt like it would never run out of ammo. That test just proves what I thought about them all along. Good luck with yours.
after going many yrs without a gun and then getting back into them a year ago the first one i bought was a .40cal service XD from an individual for a very good price. this is what i read that helped me decide to get this pistol. also the fact that it fit my hand perfect.and it has lived up to it.

they shot ok i have shot the .40 in the 4'' and the .45 in the 5". they are both ok. if the XD came out with a 10mm i would get more excited.
you never know what springfield might do.they don't just rest on their laurels like some do.![]()
stormbringerr: Sir; you have purchased a mighty fine unit.
My first experiences were this summer with a XD 45 and boy did I like the way it fit and triggered. My shooting buddy bought one and straight out of the boxHe recently purchased XD 9
I shoot Glock; would I buy an XD? Don't know; but I do like the XD
right neophyte, my main guns are sigs now, but i still have my XD 40 and probably always will have.when it comes to the glocks and XDs it seems like there are mostly two groups of people.
some the glock fits their hand better and the other group its the XD. in my case the XD just feels better in my hand. i have no problem at all of shooting tight groups w/it from 25yds once i got some practice in...

stormbringerr: Sir; I'll propose a thought on the G20 10mm
Sir; I shoot the G22; some my lameness in thought should be overlooked.
Sir; I looked very closely at both. My problem was 'Ammo'. I get out from time to time where getting .40 is aggravating; Tried to find 10mm. Sir; if I stay around larger cities or carry a-plenty; maybe; I would have looked harder at the 10.
I carry other units on most of my outings; with G22 being; for the most part; a first line defense; rarely do I run out; but those rare occasions concern me.
I shot the 10; couldn't tell much difference.
Enjoyed shooting the XD's 9mm-40-45; not much difference; so my choice for 10mm will be the .40.
As I started this; Lameness of thinking or visiting a "dead horse"
some people say they dont care for the 40 s&w round, but they never give a reason that i can remember,or think much of.
i like the .40 a lot. its powerful and accurate.
Stormbringerr: Sir; Most that speak of a .40; oppose the felt/perceived recoil. The type of handwork that my lifes work has taken; recoil isn't/hasn't been an issue.
Supposedly the 10mm isn't as much. I couldn't tell much difference.
So I'll have to leave that one to the 'individual perceptions'.
