Ya won't believe this one HELP

I'm not going to say the manufacture of this gun or the factory ammo I used. This afternoon I took my son shooting and I fired this pistol once and then gave it to him and he fired four. He put it down on the case and this is what we saw. We also have other witnesses.

Now for the history of this gun. I bought it before Xmas and when we took it out shooting it would not fire every third shot. When it did shoot you would get back spray hitting your face.
I took it back to the place I bought it from and the gunsmith fired it and complained about the back spray and sent it back to the manufacture. I got it back within two weeks and they replaced the cylinder and other components. I took it out and shot it five times and it worked fine. Took it out this afternoon shooting from the same box of factory loads and this happens. I don't want it anymore and even if they gave me a new one I would be afraid to shoot it.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Why do you not want to share the details? I would get a replacement and sell it. What gun was it? What ammo?

Maybe it's just me but I couldn't sell that hunk of metal. If that happened to me i do believe that I would call up the company and once it was all said and done more then likely cut the frame in two. Seems safer that way........ for everyone.

See if a gunsmith can use it for parts. I had one offer me some money for Sig for parts, someone may be able to dismantle it and use it to repair other guns.

What kind of gun is that?

I am wondering what part of the gun that is? Chamber maybe? What is blowing back? metal? gases? What caliber?

Still under warrenty, it's my 460 and the hole through the barrel is 7 inch down. I love S&W guns but have lost my trust in them. Do you think they would offer a trade for it and give me a 44mag model 629 and a 1911 Model SW1911PD. I would leave as a satisfied customer.

It looks like it's been ported from the inside out by the bullet. You are doing us no favors by posting this and not letting us know who the manufacture is. I would send it back for a full refund and buy something else.

I would say S&W would make it right with you. They have had some troubles with the 460 and they have fixed or replaced several from what I read on the web.

Holy cow! Man, I would send that thing back and demand a replacement. I have not heard anything like this from any of my customers who have bought the 460. I doubt they would swap it out for different weapons, but they may do it for the same one. If all else fails, find out what distributor the store uses to stock up on these things. Some of the distributors put their own warranties on the guns, and in many cases it is better that what the manufacturor offers. You could talk to the store about taking advantage of the manufacturor warranty. But, like I said, almost no distributor or manufacturer will swap it out for a different weapon.

By the way, is it a performance center 460? If it is, they were having issues with the barrels several months ago. You may want to look up the recall info from that and see if your gun fits if it is a performance center. If it fits, S&W has an obligation to fill there. The issue was with the barrels dropping off, but apparently it was from "inferior metal" used to make the barrels. This would probably still fit.

im not the expert some are on here... but if a new gun did that to me,i would not give them a second shot at me.. seems like you should be able to get the money back.. then id get another type gun ..seems like the dealer would be eager to extract himself from this deal and get this nightmare behind him..

Would you do us a favor and take another picture or two so we can see what and where the problem is. One showing the whole gun including the defect spot would help us understand.

I can't imagine S&W or the dealer not refunding all monies in a case like this. What brand Ammo was it? I believe since you raised the flag you owe us the brand names.
