22lr an berreta shortbarreled pocket pistol

doing anything i like to find out for myself ,the effectiveness of variouse rds.
i think tis is very important to those using a similar piece for mugger protection.
i started with quick shok ,stinger and hypervelocity 40 grn round.
i really was not getting any results that were conclusive. one versus the other.then ijust studied until i came up with the closest to a real situation ,that i could.
i had a heavy militatry sleeping bag double folded. i put an half inch board between it and the backdrop.....fired 2 rds each of the shok ,the stinger and the 40 grn hypervelocity....the other rds went in and were pretty much intact when they hit the board. the quick shok went thru the bag but tore a really large hole in the board.... seem to shred the wood....there no doubt which wold be the most effective mugger round, to me.
the only time the stinger mite be more effective would be if the mugger was behind a door or something. in that case the stinger would be more effective...
these are my findings ,and were pretty convinsing.you mite want to try y
our on test. but remember they all, will give sufficient penetration,but to me the shok would be a devasting thing to be hit with versus just a larger hole with the other holow pts. . it makes a mess when it separates....jmo and findings...all would do a thru shot to the average size man.the shok less than the others..these are gruesome subjects but i really think its important to know the most effecte mugger stopper..

one thing i wanted to ad is the the shok would ,,i believe be a better choice if
you just wing the mugger.. i dont believe he could concentrait well enough to use his weapon accurrately after a shoulder hit etc.the way it spreads its probably gonna hit the artery.again just my thinking on the subject.

Nissan you are living in a dream world thinking .22s will stop some of these screwballs that are all hopped up on drugs. If that was a fact then why do almost all your Police departments use 9mm,.40cals? Think about it.

for one thing i worked hard to get to the point i could hit what i shot at.
i can make a head shot as easily as a chest shot. im close to 2000 rds in practice so far. if u had seen what ive done in my testing . u would know no
man would be able to continue after he was hit with a head shot.

and our other wars were fighting to preserve. to say a 22 lr berreta with
the right ammo wont provide a sure stop ,,if the guns in the right hands is
just showing your lack of knowledge on the subject . so u keep your high caliber and ill use what ive used for 28 yrs. i hope u are as accurate with yours

I owned a Beretta 21a in the past, and have quite a bit of experience with it and the 22LR cartridge. I am glad you are confident in you ability and in your choice of weapon, but you must take the following into consideration:

1. 22lr is known for not always penetrating the human skull. It will penetrate a flat board, no problem, but the human skull is not flat. In fact, there are a few incidents that the 22 struck the skull and rode under the skin between the skull bone and the outer skin. Then it exited out the rear of the head.

2. 22lr is not an adiquite self defense calliber, in that a human can be shot many times with it in the torso and still fight. There have also been many documented cases of a person being shot in the head and surviving to fight back. This is true of many larger calibers also.

3. The 22lr is better as an offensive weapon than a defensive one, which is why it is world reknown for an assassin caliber. Easy to suppress the sound and easier to conceal.

4. And from my experience, as a professional protection specialist, range time does not equal what would happen when the shit hits the fan. Head shots are EXTREMELY hard to take in a real life scenaro. Bad guys do not stand still like the targets at the range and adreniline plays havic on your shooting ability.

I am not trying to convince you of anything, since you seem very set in your ways, but I agree with Baldy 100%.

well i was expecting this kind of responce .
some believe in big guns . ive owned a number in my trading during my young days. colt 44 magnum , was probably the largest pistol. i was just telling my wife this morning ,that if i had all the guns ive taken in trade, i would
either have a collection to envy or enough money to be significant.
my sport was boxing. i was never talented enough to go pro successfully ,,
but learned a lot about power....i had power at 20 but i was 30 before i learned how to land my left hook or right cross effectively.[always had a left jab that was good enough to end some fights tho,sorry for bragging]my point is shot placement is
much more important than how hard the punch is. if i was going to a gunfight id take a big gun,that i knew how to use,,but thats not what im carrying for. im trying to give myself as much advantage as possible if attacked by a mugger.. ive heard about the 22 going around the skull. this tells me you are talking about the cheap short shooting 22 pistols,,which in my opinion will just make a man mad.a friend of mine once took a shot in the leg from one of these,we left the bar and he ate supper before he ever went to get it looked at.
this tells me you know little of the modern rds available ..
a stinger rd can do a thru shot,,although u hope not as they are much more effective after they have been diverted by a bone .

This thread is going no where, you are posting to either start a caliber debate (argument) or to get someone to justify your choice in caliber. Claiming that someone does not know what they are speaking of, does not make you correct. I am well versed in the ballistics and effectiveness of the 22LR, and I am very familiar with the firearm and rounds you spoke of.
