Thread: regular vs sub compact

The 3" is the compact model, the 4" is the service model and the 5" is the tactical model. If your not going to carry it go with the tactical.

Currently SA offers two .45ACP XDs.
Regular in 4" "service", and 5" "tactical".
Compact also in 4" "service", and 5" "tactical".
There currently is no sub-compact 3" version.

Well, generally, the bigger the gun, the slightly less recoil U will get. Also, the longer slide gives a longer sight radius, which makes it easier to shoot. But if U are going to carry iit at all, the 5" may be too big...

I'm thinking he's referring to new XD 45 compact. Looks pretty good, IMO. I've addied it to my possibles as a new CCW gun since I want a shorter grip than my current XD40 service.

Since you don't want to conceal it, go with the tactical.

Agreed. There will be no "noticible" difference in accuracy w/ the 1" barrel difference. (At least not expressly related to the barrel itself.) Modern pistols are, generally, far more accurate than their shooters. Many "accuracy" issues are actually shooter issues and most can be atributed to short sight radii.

As stated, if you don't need the concealability, then the longer sight radius on the longer 5" is a big bonus.

I would definitely go with the 5 inch barrel if you are not going to carry it concealed. The longer barreled handguns are more accurate and have less felt recoil.
