Has anyone heard of S&W 22 Victory Having trouble with rounds hanging. ? I am Thinking about purchasing one for plinking.( My first hand gun.) I am also considering Rueger Mark 3. I need some good advice.
Have not heard of the problem you mention. However, have never shot the Victory, only held one. At $369 at my LGS it's a good price, but it's not a Mark III either. If price is not an issue then the safe bet is the Mark III which has a good reputation.......if you can deal with the disassembly/cleaning issue, which is why I went with a Browning Buckmark which also has a good reputation.
Only issue I've had so far is the slide not locking back after the last round. I've only shot CCI AR and the Winchester 36rg HP's through it so far.
I actually put the 22/45, Buckmark and Victory on the counter at the same time when comparing them. I've had Ruger MK's in the past, shot Buckmarks, all 3 are decent guns. I liked the feel of the Victory frame/grips in my hand better, I like the simple takedown and that it's customizable with aftermarket support, I like the top rail option for alternative sight options. I love the stock sights vs the other 2. Nothing wrong w/a Ruger, I have plenty, good products. I also have Brownings, also good guns. I'm more familiar w/the Ruger platform, Buckmark just doesn't do it for me, the Smith hits a sweet spot w/the balance, grip/frame geometry, simple take down and accessories. It also shoots excellent, over the last 3 days I've put about 400 rnds through it without cleaning, just a drop of oil here and there. My SR22 starts getting a little gummy around 500 and I start getting occasional feed issues. I'm going to see how many I can put through w/out cleaning the Victory before it starts to balk.
