    Slim 9mm!

    123
Hey, all. Posting on behalf of my father. He has just under $1000 in his budget, definitely wants to go 9mm, but he likes a really slim grip if possible. I've already researched a few options, but I'd like to hear what you all have to recommend. Thanks in advance!

Sig 290 RS, Glock 43, Kimber Solo. Ruger LC9, KAHR MK9, Springfield XDS 9. Not necessarily in that order. There have been problems with the Kimber Solo, I haven't had any as of yet. It's about as slim as you can get. Stay away from Taurus. For under $1000 you have a lot of options. No reason to buy anything of a lessor quality.

I would have your father actually hold the gun,,,let him decide. I've researched handguns to purchase for myself , the gun was a perfect fit on paper until I held the gun in my hand. Good luck in your purchase

Shield is a good one to add to the list.

Thanks, all. I think he might be leaning towards the shield, heading to the LGS today. Any thoughts on the performance center shield over the regular model?

I would also recommend the M&P 9 Shield. I would get the standard model, not the Performance Center version. Reason? This is a close quarter, deep conceal handgun and that is its primary mission in life. I have two; one with and one without the externally settable safety. In this gun, I like having the external safety. It is the only gun in my carry stable that has such a safety. There are very good reasons for this for my specific needs and when it is in my holster, that safety is not engaged.

There are other slim single stacked 9's on the market and I have a few. But in my opinion, the M&P Shield is the best of the lot.

The Shield is probably the cheapest of the good ones. If he hates the trigger, it can be fixed for about $150...which makes it cost about the same as its competitors, that already have decent triggers (Glock 43, XDs-9).
