First Time Shooting a Desert Eagle

I shot a Desert Eagle for the first time today! It wasn't nearly as bad as it usually appears to be. I had a friend who was fooling around with one once and he knocked himself out cold. Ever since then I have refused to touch them. But a customer where I work has one and she brought it in today. I keep telling her I want to try it, and today she had ammo. She hasn't shot it yet herself (she actually bought this gun because it belonged to a guy who let her shoot it one time... and she landed in the hospital when it smacked her in the head. She wanted the gun, but she's afraid to shoot it now). I only shot one round out of it and I flinched really, really bad (closed my eyes and all, not intentionally) so I completely missed the target. But I think the next time she comes in I may ask to shoot it again and put a box through it.

Anyone else own one? What are your thoughts on the weapon, as far as quality, handling, etc? I'm not considering buying one, it costs more than I have in my savings. But I hear mixed reviews. Just curious.

was it the .50 AE, .44mag, or .357mag?

What caliber was it? I had a 50AE that I put over 1500 rounds through, then a friend of mine offered me 2X what I had in it. He's only run 3 mags through it since he's owned it.

From what I hear they are decent guns. Some of the models don't like certain ammo though
