Alltime great firearm designs, my top 3
1911 pistols, Glocks, AR's. Three outstanding designs. Is there any thing else out there that you can buy each and every piece of the firearm from the after market and build your own ?
Looks like Mt. Rushmore to me. Kalashnikov might get an honorable mention if we included filthy commies.
1911, M1 Garand, and depending which side of the iron curtain you favor AK-47/M16
Certainly the basic designs have been improved upon, but each started somewhere and even these had predecessors.
Of course there are plenty of runners-up like Win 94, Colt .45 sa, SMLE, Mauser, MG42, FN-FAL, G3.......
Are you asking for our input? Or are you merely stating your own preferences?
• M1911A1, of course.
• Mauser/Springfield bolt-action rifle (cock-on-opening version).
• M.1860 Colt's .44 Army revolver (because it is so ęsthetically pleasing, visually).
Walther PP/PPK series
and for my Commie fix, a East German Makarov.
Colt Model 1873 Single Action Army
Colt Model 1911
Because of their historical significance.
This being a handgun forum I only picked handguns.
I have to mention the Patterson Colt, since it was the first weapon in Texas that could shoot as fast and as accurately as a Comanche bow and arrow. A Patterson Colt and a fast horse turned an ordinary farmer into Texas Ranger material.
