Ordered a new one today.....

I just ordered the Sig Sauer Mosquito Reverse Two Tone with the Target Package. It'll have a black slide with gun metal colored frame. The target pak includes a scope mount, scope rings, and 1" red-dot scope. I'm excited about having a pistol that I can shoot very cheaply. Once I get the scope sighted in, it should be pretty accurate as well. This will also be the gun that I teach my daughter to shoot with. While she is now only 11 months old, there's no point in not being prepared. :)

Well, I picked up the Mosquito on Friday and had a day of shooting on Saturday. Man, that is a nice shooting little gun. Right out of the box with no initial tear-down or lubricant it never jammed or hung up. The sights needed a little adjustment but nothing major.

I was also very impressed with the fit and finish of the pistol. It has the same look and feel of my P245. It is the same size and has all of the same features such as the decocker.

So as you can guess, my first impressions are pretty good.

I had one in my hand at a gun show a while back, and I liked the feel of it real well. I think if they done more advertising on them they would sell like hot cakes. Good luck with yours Dladd.

We got one for my wife but I'm sure I need to test it out for a few hundred rounds now and then. She likes it. Has your's shown any ammo preference? Mine...err...hers so far doesn't like high end CCI, or plain blazer.

I had several 100 round boxes of mixed up ammo. I really have no idea what any of it was. I know some was hollow point some wasn't. Just a real mixed bag. Anyway, I was putting that stuff through it in no particular order and it didn't have any problem with any of it. It came with a second recoil spring for hotter loads I believe but for what I was shooting the factory settings worked great. I was teaching my GF how to shoot on Saturday and after shooting the Mosquito for about 100 rounds she latched onto my Sig P245. I may not get that one back. For some reason, she liked shooting a gun with a little kick to it.

Nice looking piece, and I'm happy to read a positive report, as I have looked at them several times... but man that thing has more safeties than you can shake a stick at!

I'm guessing Sig hired somebody away from Phoenix Arms! :mrgreen:

As I stated above, I have a Sig P245 .45ACP. The Mosquito has almost the exact same diminsions but is much lighter when loaded due to the ammo difference. As far as everything else, it feels very natural in my hand. It comes to target very quickly and the fit and finish is all Sig Sauer.

The Mosquito is a fantastic pistol to train someone on who will be transitioning to a larger Sig. The Mosquito has the same decocker, slide release, and hammer configurations as the P245 so my GF was easily able to make the transition from shooting .22 to the .45.

Before Saturday, she had never even held a pistol before in her life. She was able to take the Mosquito and @ 50 feet 9 out of 10 shots were in the black on a silouette target. I can't wait to get the red-dot scope for it.

Well, I got the Red-Dot for it and took it to the range on Saturday to sight it in. I spent about 50 rounds getting it perfect and after that I could rapidly shoot 10 rounds at 20 yards and every one be in the 6" black circle of the target. The Red-dot makes it very easy to keep this pistol on target and since it's a .22, recoil is nonexistent. I've found that this pistol is a little particular about it's ammo though. You have to use good quality ammo or it will hang up. It really doesn't like the cheapest stuff.

Overall, this is a fantastic little pistol. The scope makes it even better. I am very pleased and would recommend one for anyone who wants to shoot all day for about $20. It was kind of boring to shoot before I put the scope on it but now it's an absolute blast.
