Beretta compact PX4 Storm 40 cal or Springfield compact XDM 40 cal
I am interested in a new firearm and have narrowed down the options to the PX4 compact 40 and XDM compact 40. I really like both and have fired both. So now it's a matter of which one to go with. And no, I can't have both. Although I wish I could.
Some info: I will be using it at the range and, once we move out of the People's Republic of NJ, may use it as a carry firearm after obtaining my CCW. Between my wife and I, we have three Berettas. I have the 92FS 9mm and my wife have the PX4 9mm as well as the NEOS 22. We have some other firearms as well, but no Springfields.
At this point, I want to reach out to some of you folks for input. I do not plan on running out tomorrow to make a purchase. And I sure want to gather as much info and input as possible before our next addition to the family.
Thank you all in advance.
What type of input do you want exactly? I own a PX4 Compact in 9mm. The XDS is a fine pistol as well. Just depends on which one shot and felt better to you.
My PX4 compact shoots great, as well as any full-size pistol, so it will fill the range roll, and likewise carries great, so for me fills the carry roll as well. I don't have first hand knowledge on the XDS, but have heard great things about them.
Hammer fired vs. Striker fired would be an obvious difference. I myself prefer hammer fired when carrying IWB, but again only a personal preference.
I guess in terms of info, just general opinions. I have fired and like them both. I also have heard great things about both. It would be an easier decision if a lot of people said one or the other was a piece of garbage. LOL! I was hoping maybe someone has carried both, and favored one over the other for some reason or another. Maybe some info on either positive or negative experiences with mfg customer service. The Hammer vs. Striker fired doesn't really concern me all that much. Recoil comparisons.
As I said, we have three Berettas. We have had no issue with any of them. However, I am willing to branch out. If it were a $25.00 purchase, I would just jump. However, since it's several hundred, I would rather reach out to others for any input.
I know, in the end, it's my decision. However, I have always valued the input of others with experience.
